Jesus is the greatest example of what it means to give your life in serving others. As his followers, we are to do just that—follow his lead in serving. For it's in giving our lives away, not in trying to get the most out of life for ourselves, that we discover true life. God's people should be a light in the darkness, giving light to those who are lost. We share the hope of Christ and the message of reconciliation with God through Christ. We also champion the cause of the marginalized and act on God's behalf where there is suffering and injustice, bringing God's Kingdom to a broken world. Because, as followers of Jesus, we are identified by our love for one another, we are marked by our mission of reaching others with Christ's love.
The Equipping Ministry Team (EMT) is the place to start if you are seeking a place to serve at ECOB. If you are interested in serving in a particular area of ministry, have no idea where you'd fit, or have an idea for a new ministry, visit the EMT kiosk on Sunday morning or contact the office. We'd be glad to help you discover your place in ministry.
Discover Your Place is a two-week course that equips you and others to learn about the importance of serving and how God has uniquely designed each of us to serve. The goal of this class is to understand ourselves and others better as we serve.
For more info about the next class, please contact Conni or call the church office (937.456.5507).
There are many opportunities to serve that don't involve traveling far. Whether it's regularly visiting people in assisted living facilities or partnering with the H.I.T. Foundation to build a wheelchair ramp—or anything else God lays on your heart—you can do it right here in Eaton, Preble County, Richmond and Dayton.
Every second Saturday of the month, people from ECOB help someone locally with whatever might be needed. For information on upcoming projects and to sign up, contact the office.
Brethren Disaster Ministries
Inspired by Jesus, Brethren Disaster Ministries focuses on rebuilding homes, caring for children, and providing international relief by engaging our volunteers, supporters, and partners to serve communities recovering from disaster.* ECOB partners with BDM on many domestic trips through the year. Some travel is involved and trips last about a week. To find out about upcoming trips, contact the office.
Go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. —Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
God's desire is for all people everywhere to come to know his love as demonstrated in Jesus' sacrifice for us on the cross. This unmerited grace isn't for any particular people group in any particular time. So we choose to answer God's call to go into all the world to share his love with others who, while they may not look or talk like we do, are not any different from us, for we are all in need of God's free gift of grace. ECOB sponsors and/or encourages trips throughout the year. To learn more about upcoming short-term mission trips, contact the office.
